Foundation Tips For Oily Skin

Once in awhile everyone loves the glistening, dewy, glowing skin look, until it gets into the oily territory. Even though having oily skin comes with benefits like less wrinkles (YES!), It is really annoying when you have to constantly blot your face to keep your makeup in place and not sliding down your face. Nobody wants to walk around with an oil slick face and getting oily skin under control can be a challenge. Here are some of my tips and tricks on how to fix that problem.

Finding the right moisturizer

I know that it can be really tempting for someone with oily skin to just skip using a moisturizer completely. As a person with oily skin I realized that skipping the moisturizer was actually making things worst. Did you know that when you skip the moisturizer can actually dehydrate your skin? Because of this it causes your glands to over produce oil to make up for the lack of moisture. Try using an oil free moisturizer. I use Dermasil Oil free Morning cream. I have also tried using a heavy moisturizer or Shea butter overnight and then in the morning I use something lighter.

Face Primer

Some people just love to skip a primer for some reason. Well I'm here to tell you that if you have oily skin don't you dare skip it! A primer evens out the surface of your skin and absorbs some of the excess oil on your face without sucking the life out of your face. If you have oily skin I would avoid primers that have light reflecting properties or a illumining primer all over the face.

Reach for a Sponge

Using a sponge is great for oily skin because it presses the product into your skin as it blends it. Because you have to use most sponges wet, it dilutes the product with water and wipes away the excess oil. If your makeup starts to disappear throughout the day you can just use your makeup sponge to just smooth everything out. When you use a sponge it makes your makeup looks more fresh and airbrushed.

Powder and Blotting

What some people don't realize is that to mask shine and take away shine are two different things. You should always take shine away first and then mask the shine. you use less product and there is less oil to mix with. Blot with blotting paper first to absorb oil. Then you mask the shine with a powder. Place the powder where you get most oily like your T-Zone area. A powder I like to use personally is the Covergirl queen Collection Pressed powder.

Foundation

Even though matte foundations last longer, You don't always have to go for a matte foundation. Liquid to powder foundations work really well also. I like the Covergirl Queen Collection 3 in 1 foundation. It works really well and lasts a long day and it blends flawlessly! My go to foundation is actually the Revlon Colorstay Foundation for combination to oily skin. If you want more about that foundation click on product review.

With all of that being said You shouldn't forget to set all of your makeup. Use a setting spray that can mattify you.
